Theo Viễn Tượng Dân Số Toàn Cầu của Liên Hiệp Quốc (The United Nations World Population Prospects), cho hay, tại Hoa Kỳ mỗi ngày có khoảng 7,452 người chết, có nghĩa là cứ mỗi 12 giây qua đi thì có một người từ giã cõi đời này. (Con số 7,452 không kể những người chết vì Covid, và cũng chưa kể các thai nhi bị giết một cách oan ức ở những nơi chuyên phá thai). Người ta chết vì nhiều lý do khác nhau:

• Vì dịch bệnh Covid , vì già yếu bệnh tật, vì tai nạn lao động, vì tai nạn xe cộ, vì tự tử hay bị giết hại, vì chiến tranh khủng bố…
• Những người chết thuộc đủ mọi tín ngưỡng, thuộc mọi lứa tuổi, có trẻ sơ sinh, có thanh niên, có thiếu nữ, có trung niên, có cao niên…
• Những người chết gồm đủ mọi thành phần, thuộc mọi giai cấp, mọi màu da ở trong xã hội: giàu sang & nghèo khó; xinh đẹp & xấu xí; sang & hèn, trí thức và bình dân…

CHẾT là một trong những chuyện bình thường trong cuộc sống của con người. Cái chết đã, và đang xảy ra từng giây, từng phút, từng giờ và từng ngày. Có lẽ vì vậy cho nên có nhiều người chẳng để ý đến thần chết, và tệ hơn nữa có những người chẳng lo chuẩn bị cho cái chết của họ một tí nào cả! Bởi vì đối với họ chết là hết!

According to The United Nations World Population Prospects, about 7,452 people die each day in the United States, which means that every 12 seconds someone dies. (The 7,452 number does not include those who died from Covid, and not to mention many fetal deaths that occur absurdly in abortion clinics or in the hospital.) There are different causes and different victims of death:

• Some people die from Covid, illness or of old age, others from fatal accidents at their workplace or in car accidents, others from suicide or homicide, and others from the course of a war, or terrorist attacks…
• Death knocks at the doors of all denominations, of all ages, from infants to young people, middle-aged and seniors…
• The dead include all ranks in society, all skin colors, the rich and the poor, the beautiful and the unattractive, the noble and the mediocre, the intellectual and average…

DEATH is inevitable for every human life. Death is occurring every second, every minute, every hour and every day. Perhaps that is why people are no longer paying attention, and worse, have no concern about preparing for their own death. To them, death is the end, so why should they prepare for it!
