Bạn có biết tại sao Chúa Giê-su lại ra chỉ thị, bắt các môn đệ không được mang lương thực, bao bị, tiền giắt lưng, không được mặc hai áo, và đã vào nhà nào, thì hãy ở lại đó cho đến lúc ra đi... không? Tôi nghĩ, có lẽ là vì hai lý do sau đây:

• Thứ nhất, khi mang theo lương thực, tiền bạc, túi bị, áo quần…thì các ông sẽ bị phân tâm, sẽ bị sao nhãng trong sứ vụ mà Ngài trao phó. Thật vậy, nếu các ông đem theo lương thực thì các ông phải lo bảo quản để khỏi bị hư thối, mang theo tiền bạc thì dễ bị nguy hiểm đến tính mạng, bị trộm, bị cướp…Còn mang theo bao bị thì thế nào cũng lo kiếm chác bỏ vào cho đầy. Càng mang theo nhiều thử lỉnh kỉnh bao nhiêu, thì càng khó khăn trong việc di chuyển bấy nhiêu, và chắc chắn các ông sẽ không thể nào chú tâm vào những sứ vụ mà Chúa giao phó.

Have you ever wondered why Jesus gave a directive, instructing the disciples to take nothing for the journey, no food, no sack, no money in their belts, no second tunic, and wherever they enter a house, stay there until they leave? In my opinion, most likely for these two reasons:

• First of all, when they take food, money, a sack, a tunic…then they will be distracted, sidetracked from the mission that was entrusted to them. Indeed, if they pack food along the way, they must store it without spoiling; if they bring money, they will put their lives in danger, be robbed, mugged…And if they carry the sack, they will be busy looking for stuff to fill up the sack. The extra miscellaneous items they take along, the more challenging it will be for them to transport, and surely, they will not be able to fully focus on the missions that God has entrusted to them.
