Qua đó, tôi hy vọng, bạn và tôi cũng sẽ có khả năng nhận ra sự khác biệt giữa bình an của thế gian và bình an của Chúa.

“Ngày mới bước chân qua Mỹ, tôi cảm thấy bình an và hạnh phúc vì tôi và gia đình đã thoát khỏi những nỗi sợ hãi, không còn sợ bị công an khu vực gõ cửa xét hộ khẩu, đòi hối lộ, không sợ bị du kích đến bắt đi bộ đội, không còn sợ đói sợ khát, không còn sợ thiếu thốn … Mỗi sáng đón xe bus đi làm việc, hai tuần lãnh lương một lần, muốn mua gì thì mua, muốn ăn gì thì ăn, tối đến leo lên giường ngủ một giấc đến sáng thức dậy đi làm tiếp, tôi cảm thấy tâm hồn bình an và hạnh phúc.

In today’s reflection, I wish to share with you an excerpt from Fr. Francis’ article, addressing the differences between the: World’s Peace and Peace of God. By means of this article, I hope, we will be able to discern the variations between the world’s peace and God’s peace.

“I can still clearly remember the first day when I arrived in the United States, a sense of serenity, peace and happiness consumed me because my family and I were no longer distressed by fears. We would no longer be interrupted by the local police knocking on our door and conducting a household registration, asking for a bribe. We would not be afraid of receiving the request for army enlistment, of going hungry, of dying of thirst or deprivation. Every morning, I took the bus to work. I was paid once every two weeks. I bought whatever I desired and ate whatever I liked. When evening came I went to bed and slept through the night until it was time to wake up to go to work. My life was filled with peace and happiness.
