Tôi xin trả lời ngay, không ngần ngại, cũng không do dự: GIÀU LÀ PHÚC. Tại vì hai lý do sau đây:

Thứ nhất, giàu là phúc, cho nên trong những ngày đầu xuân, người ta mới cầu chúc cho nhau năm mới nói ra bạc khạc ra tiền, được làm ăn phát tài, buôn may bán đắt, ăn nên làm ra, tiền bạc đầy ví đầy tay, bán buôn thịnh đạt, năm này giàu hơn.

Thứ hai, giàu là phúc bởi vì Thánh Kinh ghi lại rằng giàu có sung túc, đó là dấu chỉ của phúc lành mà Thiên Chúa ban cho. Ví dụ như Tổ Phụ Áp-ra-ham, I-xa-ác, Gia-cóp, Salomon … Các ngài là những người cực kỳ giàu có, giàu vô kể, có rất nhiều tài sản, đất đai, vàng bạc cùng những đàn chiên, đàn bò, đầy tớ, khiến cho người Phi-li-tinh phải ghen tị (St 26:12-14).

Thế nhưng nếu giàu có do gian lận, bóc lột, ức hiếp kẻ khác, ích kỷ, keo kiệt… Nếu giàu có mà lại sống ích kỷ, keo kiệt, bủn xỉn, không biết sử dụng những tài năng, của cải vật chất mà Chúa ban để chia sẻ, để cho đi, để giúp đỡ cho tha nhân … thì giàu đó không là phúc nhưng mà là tội. Bạn mở Kinh Thánh ra đọc thì sẽ thấy, tội nặng lắm chứ không nhẹ đâu!

My response, without hesitation: BEING RICH IS A BLESSING due to these two reasons:

First, prosperity is a blessing, and for that reason the first few days of Lunar New Year/spring festival, people often wish each other with such greetings as: năm mới nói ra bạc khạc ra tiền, được làm ăn phát tài, buôn may bán đắt, ăn nên làm ra, tiền bạc đầy ví đầy tay, bán buôn thịnh đạt, năm này giàu hơn – literally translated, be prosperous in the New Year.

Secondly, prosperity is a blessing as the Bible records that prosperity is a sign of God’s blessing. Take, for example, our forefathers Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, King Solomon. They were extremely affluent, prosperous, owned massive amounts of property, gold, flocks and herds, and they had a great work force, so it’s only natural that the Philistines became envious of him (Gn 26:12-14).

However, if being rich is the result of financial fraud, exploitation, bullying others, being egoistic, or tightfisted and we are oblivious to the talents and material possessions that God has given us to share with others, then this richness is not a blessing but a sin. If you open the Bible and read, you will realize that the weight of sin is quite heavy!
